Upcoming Events
Thursday, May 12, 2011 - Read Dating at the Vancouver Public Library. Thirty writers so far and at least 80 librarians. It'll be just like speed dating only with writers.
May 13-15, 2011 - Write on, Vancouver - a conference for writers at Kwantlen College in Richmond. The keynote speaker is the amazing Michael Hauge.
May 19, 2011 - Kate is giving a presentation to the Langley Writers Group about romance writing.
Past Events
FEBRUARY-MARCH 2011
I've had a busy February and March 2011 with workshops and events. Here's a photo that can stand for all of them as the rest are what I'd call mediocre at best:

The first event was the GVC 2011 Valentine's Brunch. It's always a lovely event and the best part is probably getting to spend a few hours with writers I don't get to see all that often. I was the emcee - one of my favourite jobs - and I actually got a certificate for my tenth sale to Cobblestone Press.
The second was a panel that the Greater Vancouver Chapter of Romance Writers of America does every February at the Vancouver Public Library. I was the emcee and am at the far end of this photo looking at my watch. I'll tell you that herding five writers and 50 participants into 8 minute blocks wasn't easy but everyone had a great time.
And the last was Saturday March 5th and also at the Vancouver Public Library. It was a writing and publishing day of workshops and I did a workshop - for approximately 50 people - about brainstorming your book. It was a great success and a lot of fun. We ended up with all kinds of stories and I'm pretty sure that a few of those 50 writers are going to go away and write the story they brainstormed.
JULY 15-18, 2010
PNWA 2010 - Seattle
I don't have any photographs of this event this year but I'm posting a picture of CC Humphreys. He gave the keynote address on Saturday night and it was kind of like being at an event, rather than a speech. He's funny, he's smart, he gave my favourite Shakespeare speech and I learned a lot. If you'd heard him speak, you, too, would be rushing out to buy his books which are not, I'm sorry to say, available right now in Canadian or US bookstores but you can probably get them online. This is odd, but he now has a US publisher and so the books should be in bookstores this fall. He lives in Vancouver, not all that far from me, though I've never seen him on the street.

APRIL 2010
Vancouver Public Library
As we do every year, my RWA chapter here in Vancouver does an event at the main branch of the library. We always have big turnouts and I moderated the event this year. Here's a photo of me with Susan Lyons and Russ Crossley.
