July/August 2010

Happy summer!

I hope all of you are planning something fun or interesting or exciting for the summer. I’m planning all three and will keep you in touch with what I’ve been doing in September. It’s going to be totally awesome – I promise.

One of the things I’m doing is I’ll be at the Seattle Airport Hilton from July 22-25 at the Pacific Northwest Writers’ Association conference. I love this conference and this hotel – it has the most wonderful swimming pool and hot tub around. I’m going to be rubbing elbows with all kinds of wonderful writers and editors and agents including Bob Mayer and Andre Dubus III and Laurie McLean and Lisa Gardner and the list just goes on and on.

If any of you are in Seattle or surrounding areas, check out the Autograph Party on Friday night from 8:30-10:00. Over 50 award winning and bestselling authors will be there and you can buy their books and get them autographed on the spot. And if you’re at the conference, please, if you see me, come up and say hello.

The Demon Next Door: Morteza

My second DEMON NEXT DOOR book is now available from Cobblestone Press for download. The cover – as always – is absolutely gorgeous and the story is a lot of fun. I love Morteza and Eli and Ellie and was delighted I could take their story further than the short story I wrote for The Pleasure Club Series. THE DEMON was one of those stories for a writer that feel a bit like a wonderful appetizer – delicious but nowhere near enough.

And July 23 is the launch of WORKING IT from Cobblestone. Jamie hates exercise with a passion thanks to a rotten love affair at college. But her editor wants an article about working out with a personal trainer using herself as an example and she can’t figure out a way to get out of it. Michael is the hottest (in both senses of the word) personal trainer in town. Journalists rank right up there with politicians and lawyers for him. When the two of them get together, sparks fly.

Don’t forget to check out Kate’s Treats this month. Occasionally, I’ll give you some secrets about Vancouver that only locals know. This month will be one of those treats.

The winner of the June contest was Michelle Bauer. She’s going to get a copy of my favorite movie and a little movie memorabilia. Make sure you enter the summer contest. The prize is going to be great. I’m going to include souvenirs of my totally awesome summer and one or two of my favorite books from this summer.

Enjoy the sun and the long, long days. I know I’m going to.
